ACRRM Webinar : Gambling and its links to mental health and other addictions- Wed 7 May 2025

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • increase understanding of gambling harm, confidence to talk about it, and support those affected
  • intersectionality of gambling with other issues that impact health e.g. trauma, mental health, alcohol, drugs, family violence.
  • increase empathy, reduce stigma and shame – so more people will speak up and seek help around gambling harm
  • frame gambling as a public health issue
  • inclusion of gambling as a screening question with patients

  • brief overview of gambling in Australia
  • introduction to Three Sides of the Coin (3SOC) lived experience gambling harm storytelling project
  • screening of x2 lived experience 3SOC Recovery Gamble video stories, followed by QandA with storytellers (watch trailer: https://threesidesofthecoin.org.au/video-stories/)
  • challenges in addressing gambling addiction within healthcare
  • referral pathways
