Cow’s milk is one of the most common causes of food allergic reactions in children. However, 50% of children with cow’s milk allergy resolve within two years, and 80% by three to four years after diagnosis.
In this webinar, Paediatric Clinical Immunology/Allergy Specialist Dr Chaitanya Bodapati will explain the different presentations of cow’s milk allergy, how it can be managed with alternatives, and what advice you can give to patients and parents. You’ll have the opportunity to ask your questions directly to a panel of Clinical Immunology/Allergy Specialists.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
· Recognise the difference between IgE and non-IgE mediated milk allergy.
· Learn about who requires further investigation including skin prick testing.
· Criteria for considering cow’s milk elimination in the diet of a child and/or breastfeeding mother.
· Dietary considerations including cow’s milk (dairy) alternatives.
KEY TOPICS COVERED
· IgE mediated cow’s milk allergy.
· Delayed cow’s milk allergy (food protein induced allergic proctocolitis in infants, eczema, FPIES).
· Skin prick testing in the context of a food allergy.
· The use of milk ladders to safely re-introduce cow’s milk.
