Learning objectives

Upon successful completion of the face-to-face component, participants will be able to:

  1. Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to prepare for and respond to neonatal emergencies in low-resource or rural settings.
  2. Perform immediate newborn care and initial assessment.
  3. Apply the ANZCOR Neonatal Resuscitation Algorithm, adapted to available resources.
  4. Manage airway and breathing, including effective ventilation and use of adjuncts or intubation.
  5. Provide circulatory support with chest compressions, umbilical access, and safe medication/fluid dosing.
  6. Deliver post-resuscitation care, stabilisation planning and complete a safe, structured handover with retrieval or receiving teams.
  7. Manage high-risk or special neonatal resuscitation scenarios.
  8. Make ethical decisions about continuing or stopping resuscitation providing compassionate, family-centred care.
Assessment information

Successful completion of online MCQ Assessment and Guided Competency Validation at Workshop.
