The course is delivered over a 12 week trimester and consists of 6 online modules including quizzes and knowledge checks, a case discussion forum, 4 live webinars and a one-day face-to-face workshop excision and suturing skills workshop.

Pre/Post activity
4 self reflection questions prior and post course to reflect on expectations and learnings and how to apply these in practice. Pre-knowledge quiz to establish base-line knowledge.
Learning objectives

LO 1: Execute a full-skin examination

LO 2: Choose appropriate morphologic descriptors to describe features of skin lesions visible to the naked eye

LO 3: Describe the principles of using  a dermatoscope

LO 4: Describe the concept of dermoscopic-histopathology correlation

LO 5: Assess the significance of dermoscopic features of skin lesions

LO 6: Choose appropriate dermoscopic terminology to describe skin lesions when viewed through a dermatoscope 

LO 7: Evaluate the significance of dermoscopic features of skin lesions

LO 8: Recommend a provisional diagnosis of skin lesions based on their morphological and dermoscopic features 

LO 9: Formulate a first-step management plan based on a combination of clinical information, morphology and dermoscopic features of suspicious skin lesions 

LO 10: Determine systems for monitoring and follow-up of patients with suspicious skin lesions 

 
Assessment information

To successfully complete this course you must:

  • Complete the 6 online modules and the 5 associated quizzes (75% pass mark)
  • Reply to at least 6 cases in the Case Discussion Forum 
  • Complete the 40 x Case Studies (75% pass mark)
  • Attend the live webinars or watch the recordings
  • Complete the Final Online Exam (75% pass mark)
  • Attend the 1 day face to face workshop

 

Additional infomation

Eligible for one day of procedural grant funding under the surgery component.
