Infant cry-fuss problems, sleep and perinatal mental health: Masterclasses in Neuroprotective Developmental Care (or the Possums programs)

Infant sleep and cry-fuss problems are common presentations, increasing parent risk of postnatal depression. Yet health professionals report feeling inadequately trained to help. These Masterclasses upskill in management of modifiable factors which may contribute to excessive crying, at the same time avoiding overdiagnosis and overtreatment, by applying the NDC 5 domain approach. Participants also learn the steps of the Possums Baby and Toddler Sleep Program, and focused strategies from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Self-Compassion Therapy.

These Masterclasses comprise 12 x CPD hours: 4 hrs of EA (live online) + 2 hrs RP (live online) + a predisposing activity of 1 hour of e-learning. Cost $300. The 6 hrs are offered consecutively Wednesday 7-8 pm AEST on Zoom between 16 August – 20 September 2023 and repeated consecutively between 8 November – 13 December 2023. As long as the whole 6 are completed within these two periods, participants can choose when to attend.
