Certificate in Practical Therapies - Basic - 01/01/2026 - 31/12/2028

To provide General Practitioners with the skills and knowledge to perform basic and advanced dermatological surgery and procedures and how to manage surgical risk and complications. The Practical Therapies (Basic and Advanced) Certificate is facilitated by leading Dermatologists.  It is delivered in an online learning mode with self-paced modules. You will be required to complete case study scenarios, a case study and a final online exam.

Clinic case scenarios are used extensively in the course. These will ensure that participants have a wide range of clinical experience on which to draw to manage their own patients.

Learning objectives

At the successful completion of this course, you should be able to:

  1. Describe how to perform basic dermatological surgery and procedures.
  2. Determine the appropriate circumstances in which to perform basic dermatological surgery and procedures.
  3. Assess the risks and complications relating to basic dermatological surgery and procedures.
  4. Determine when and how to use non-surgical treatments for skin cancer.
  5. Determine ways surgical risk may be managed.

 
Assessment information

At the end of each module participants will need to complete the Clinic Case Scenarios which consist of T/F or multiple choice questions.

At the end of the 12 weeks participants must:

  • Submit a Case Study (500 words).
  • Complete the Final Online Exam - online 2-hour examination

Clinic case scenarios are the main teaching and assessment tool across all learning modes of the course.
