REST covers many of the common emergencies that are likely to present in the pre-hospital, small rural hospital and private rural practice environment. The aim of this course is to teach a structured approach to the initial resuscitation and stabilisation of patients presenting with life-threatening conditions and to enhance the practical skills required for managing emergencies in the rural context. The Course is facilitated by Rural Generalists with experience in Emergency Medicine, for Rural Generalists. Participants complete approximately 12 hours of self-directed online learning, followed by two hands-on workshop days. You’ll leave with skills in basic life support, along with more advanced skills and techniques to assist with managing life-threatening injuries and conditions.

Emergencies in Rural AnaestheticsThis workshop will provide participants with contemporary learning environments designed around guided scenario based activities. The training includes technical and non-technical skills with a focus on team communication and improving emergency anaesthetic skills for clinicians practicing in Rural andamp; Remote environments. The training scenarios (based on the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) emergency response activities) include can't intubate/can't oxygenate; management of haemorrhage; management of anaphylaxis; and severe behavioural disturbance.This program will guide participants through the current guidelines, review pharmacological options and considerations, and enable real world practical skills development in a constructive and supportive environment.This is a course for Rural Generalists, taught by Rural Generalists

The topic sessions will cover: How to help prepare your registrars for ACRRM assessments When things go wrong - scenario-based challengingsituations for a registrar-supervisor-practice In practice teaching – formal and informal teaching (including discussing interface between the ME and the supervisor) Matching teaching and learning stylesThis regional education will provide a great opportunity to establish your knowledge as well as engage with the ACRRM team and ACRRM accredited supervisors.
