This courseis a multidynamic, hands on simulation based day that provides training and refresher in first response scenarios for rural doctors.Created by experienced Rural Generalists, pre-hospital and retrieval specialists, the course will consolidate your emergency skills in unfamiliar or uncomfortable environments. This program is a development based, supportive learning environment that will support you in preparing for patient care situations outside of the clinic or hospital.Please note PHEC is run in both indoor and outdoor environments.

REST covers many of the common emergencies that are likely to present in the pre-hospital, small rural hospital and private rural practice environment. The aim of this course is to teach a structured approach to the initial resuscitation and stabilisation of patients presenting with life-threatening conditions and to enhance the practical skills required for managing emergencies in the rural context. The Course is facilitated by Rural Generalists with experience in Emergency Medicine, for Rural Generalists. Participants complete approximately 12 hours of self-directed online learning, followed by two hands-on workshop days. You’ll leave with skills in basic life support, along with more advanced skills and techniques to assist with managing life-threatening injuries and conditions.

Emergencies in Rural AnaestheticsThis workshop will provide participants with contemporary learning environments designed around guided scenario based activities. The training includes technical and non-technical skills with a focus on team communication and improving emergency anaesthetic skills for clinicians practicing in Rural andamp; Remote environments. The training scenarios (based on the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) emergency response activities) include can't intubate/can't oxygenate; management of haemorrhage; management of anaphylaxis; and severe behavioural disturbance.This program will guide participants through the current guidelines, review pharmacological options and considerations, and enable real world practical skills development in a constructive and supportive environment.This is a course for Rural Generalists, taught by Rural Generalists
