Follow up and Survivorship Care for Early Breast Cancer

The Follow-up and survivorship care for early breast cancer course was developed by Cancer Australia and adapted for online delivery by the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM).

This course focuses on best practice follow-up and survivorship care for women who have completed active treatment for breast cancer. The focus includes the follow-up schedule, the shared follow-up care model, management of treatment related side effects and providing psychosocial care.

Learning objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

Understand the purpose of follow-up and survivorship care and identify the key components
Identify the components of the recommended follow-up schedule
Describe shared follow-up and survivorship care, outline the benefits and identify which patients may be suitable for this model of care
Recognise a number of common treatment-related side effects
Identify a range of psychosocial issues that patients may experience after treatment concludes
Understand common management strategies for menopausal symptoms in women after breast cancer treatment.
