Breast Cancer Treatment - Managing The Impact

This course was developed by Cancer Australia as part of a six-part series on the diagnosis, treatment and follow-up care for women with early breast cancer. This course addresses breast cancer treatment and managing its immediate emotional and psychological impact.

Learning objectives

On completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand the impact of a diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer on a patient and their family
  • Recognise the steps to manage a person’s distress following the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer
  • Differentiate depression and anxiety from adjustment disorder following the diagnosis of breast cancer
  • Describe effective communication strategies that can be used with patients and their family, including discussing bad news
