Although there is crossover between teaching and clinical roles, a supervisor is a dual professional – both clinician and educator.

This course will consider the conceptual basis of being a supervisor before outlining the tasks that a supervisor has to undertake.

Learning objectives

At the end of this module a supervisor will be able to:

  • Describe a supervisor as a dual professional (educator and clinician) teaching in a workplace setting
    Distinguish the roles of a supervisor
  • Outline the tasks a supervisor undertakes during a supervised doctor’s placement.
