Rural Doctors Family and Domestic Violence Education Package

The Rural Doctors' Family and Domestic Violence Education Package was developed to strengthen the knowledge and skills to recognise that Family and Domestic Violence is a major issue for public health and a patient’s wellbeing. Participants should understand the professional role of a rural doctor/medical practitioner with respect to assisting patients affected by Family and Domestic Violence and contributing to the address of Family and Domestic Violence prevention, at primary, secondary and tertiary levels.

The module is divided into six sections, each with its own multiple choice questionnaire:

  1. Identifying Domestic Violence
  2. Understanding Family and Domestic Violence
  3. Understanding the community - promotion, prevention and health education
  4. Managing Domestic Violence
  5. Demonstrating appropriate attitudes in practice - understanding the role and responsibilities of the GP in helping patients affected by Domestic Violence
  6. Self reflection.

Learning objectives
