Sepsis is a time-critical condition that GPs play a vital role in recognising and managing. With over 55,000 Australians affected annually and more than 8,700 deaths, early detection and timely intervention are essential to improving outcomes. This webinar will provide GPs with practical, case-based insights into recognising the early signs of sepsis, understanding the consequences of delayed diagnosis, and optimising referral and escalation pathways. It will also address the GP’s role in supporting survivors and families post-discharge, including recognising post sepsis syndrome and coordinating ongoing care. By participating, GPs will strengthen their ability to detect sepsis early, improve referral decisions, and enhance long-term patient recovery and quality of life.

Chest pain is a common, high-risk presentation in general practice. The 2025 Australian ACS guideline introduces updates on triage, early ECG, risk tools, and referral thresholds, yet many GPs have limited recent ECG training and uncertainty in distinguishing STEMI from mimics or managing non-diagnostic tracings. These gaps, compounded by time pressure and limited access to serial ECGs/troponins in primary care, especially rural settings, risk delayed STEMI recognition, unsafe reassurance, and medico-legal consequences.

This webinar is highly relevant to General Practitioners (GPs) due to the direct implications for maternal and fetal health in emergency situations. Obstetric emergencies such as postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) and HELLP syndrome present significant risks, necessitating immediate recognition and management to avert severe consequences. Through patient case studies and interactive polls, participants can apply their learning directly to clinical practice.
