Space flight is not without it hazards, and fundamentally the issues encounter over 70 years ago, have not been resolved. Microgravity, gravity designed as not of the 9.8m2g of Earth has an unhealthy affect on the human body and indeed all biological cellular structures from Earth. In the human this can affect all major organ systems, as well as the muscular-skeletal systems, immune and neurological system. Data collected for the most part has been from male astronauts, and limited knowledge has been gained concerning female humans in space, their reproductive potential and what challenges will occur when colonisation occurs in lower than Earth gravity.

Colorectal (bowel) cancer (CRC) continues to have considerable burden on Australians, with 97,754 years of healthy life lost due to CRC in 2022. Patients report on some of the limitations of their care post-CRC treatment, including feeling isolated and unequipped as they continue their journey adapting to life post-cancer. In addition to a perceived barrier to contacting specialist clinicians for support, patients simultaneously perceive that GPs have insufficient expertise to deal with post-CRC treatment needs. Using existing tools to support quality outcomes, GPs can play a greater role in coordinating post-treatment care and connecting patients with appropriate support.

Colorectal (bowel) cancer (CRC) continues to have considerable burden on Australians, with 97,754 years of healthy life lost due to CRC in 2022. Further to this, the incidence of early-onset colorectal cancer (EOCRC) is increasing globally, with CRC being the deadliest cancer for Australians aged 25 to 44. Approximately 75% of bowel cancers are diagnosed symptomatically. GPs play a key role in managing patient presentations, screening for CRC and referring patients for further investigation. By incorporating the recently-updated NHMRC-endorsed guidelines with existing tools to support quality outcomes, GPs can play a greater role in driving investigations for signs and symptoms potentially associated with CRC.
