The Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Advanced Life Support Level 2 (ALS2)course focuses on developing skills, knowledge and confidence in managing medical emergencies, including cardiac arrest.This course is designed for healthcare professionals who would be expected to apply these skills as part of their day-to-day clinical duties. The course is recommended for participants such as doctors, and nurses who are working in critical care areas (e.g. ED, CCU, ICU, HDU, acute admissions units) or in the resuscitation /medical emergency team, and ambulance paramedics. ARC ALS2 Courses provide the opportunity for interprofessional education to promote the knowledge, skills, and attributes in order to work together in an effective collaborative fashion.

REST covers many of the common emergencies that are likely to present in the pre-hospital, small rural hospital and private rural practice environment. The aim of this course is to teach a structured approach to the initial resuscitation and stabilisation of patients presenting with life-threatening conditions and to enhance the practical skills required for managing emergencies in the rural context. The Course is facilitated by Rural Generalists with experience in Emergency Medicine, for Rural Generalists. Participants complete approximately 12 hours of self-directed online learning, followed by two hands-on workshop days. You’ll leave with skills in basic life support, along with more advanced skills and techniques to assist with managing life-threatening injuries and conditions.

This is a collaboration between Dr Natalie Burch (FACRRM), Sheena Polese (Psychologist and executive Coach) and the Tasmanian Walking Company.The activity is an immersive 6-7 day hike on the Overland or Larapinta Trail - a multi day walk in world heritage bush in Tasmania or NT.
