Resuscitation Australia (RA) course was developed to equip healthcare professionals (nurses, doctors, specialists, paramedics, and first responders) with the essential theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed to effectively recognise, assess, and manage critically ill patients and lead cardiac arrest situations until advanced support arrives. RA's ALS1 courseis a mixed-mode blended learning course comprising mandatory pre-course eLearning as well as attendance at the face-to-face training day. REST covers many of the common emergencies that are likely to present in the pre-hospital, small rural hospital and private rural practice environment. The aim of this course is to teach a structured approach to the initial resuscitation and stabilisation of patients presenting with life-threatening conditions and to enhance the practical skills required for managing emergencies in the rural context. The Course is facilitated by Rural Generalists with experience in Emergency Medicine, for Rural Generalists. Participants complete approximately 12 hours of self-directed online learning, followed by two hands-on workshop days. You’ll leave with skills in basic life support, along with more advanced skills and techniques to assist with managing life-threatening injuries and conditions.

The ACRRM NSW/ACT regional team will be delivering face-to-face supervisor education to the North Coast region in Coffs Harbour. The workshop will take place on Saturday 2 May 2026, 10:00am - 1:30pm [AEST] with optional networking lunch to follow. Catering will be provided by the College. This workshop provides a valuable opportunity to build and refresh your supervision knowledge, engage with the NSW/ACT ACRRM team, and connect with fellow local accredited supervisors. Topics will include: Preparing registrars for ACRRM assessments When things go wrong: scenario-based challenging situations for the registrar–supervisor–practice In-practice teaching: formal and informal approaches (including the interface between the Medical Educator and supervisor) Matching teaching and learning styles CPD hours will be claimable for attendance. The Practical Solutions to Patient Boundaries active learning module (ALM) aims to support medical practitioners to explore optimal frameworks for the doctor–patient relationship and to further develop skills and understandings in maintaining clear boundaries with patients. The ALM content is highly case-based and very interactive and will be delivered in a supportive and collegial environment to facilitate participant engagement with this challenging and often quite personal and/or sensitive subject. The ALM provides a rare and valuable opportunity in Australia for doctors to review their relationships with patients (which is a professional duty according to the Medical Board of Australia's and Australian Medical Council's Code of Conduct) and learn how to strengthen therapeutic partnerships with patients. It will assist doctors to be aware of common boundary difficulties, recognise the early warning signs of boundary problems, and to build skills to address boundary challenges and effectively manage boundaries in general. Risk management strategies are directly addressed in detail.
