This module focuses on how to care for Indigenous people’s eyes who have diabetes and in particular, the assessment of diabetic retinopathy. It is authored by the Indigenous Eye Health unit of The University of Melbourne. This module aims to provide health professionals working in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities with an overview of the management of eye care for people with diabetes and draws on findings from the Roadmap to Close the Gap for Vision. The management by health professionals of eye conditions that are related to diabetes are presented and the module discusses early detection of vision issues, the need for regular examination and timely treatment.

This short, online eLearning course provides an introduction to considerations for scope of practice of Registered Nurses working in remote health in the Northern Territory.This module has been developed to assist registered nurses in the Northern Territory to better understand their scope of practice, including the parameters governing scope of practice and how to practice within these parameters. In particular this module covers legislation and clinical guidelines in relation to medicines management by nurses in remote locations, to ensure clinical practice adheres to legal and organisational requirements.

This online learning module (OLM) is designed for midwives, shared care general practitioners and other relevant medical doctors providing antenatal care throughout NSW. The OLM is comprised of the following three topics: 1. An overview of syphilis 2. Information on testing for syphilis 3. Treatment and contact tracing/partner notification.The OLM will provide shared care general practitioners with the tools to identify priority populations for syphilis screening in their practice, distinguish the stages of syphilis infection based on a patient’s clinical presentation and history, and outline the process of contact tracing/partner notification after a syphilis diagnosis. It will also offer information on updated guidelines for screening in pregnancy, based on the most recent NSW Health STI Strategy. General practitioners play a critical role in reducing notifications of infectious syphilis during pregnancy, and eliminating congenital syphilis in NSW. This OLM will equip them with essential knowledge and skills to do so.

This module provides an overview of the cause and key symptoms of Machado Joseph Disease (MJD). It is designed as a learning resource for healthcare professionals delivering primary and allied health services for all MJD patients, in particular Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It has been developed by the MJD Foundation (established in 2008) and is hosted on the NTRLP eLearning platform for completely free and open use to any person who enrols. It is primarily intended to be used by remotely-practicing health professionals.
