Resuscitation Australia (RA) Level 2 (ALS2) course was developed to equip healthcare professionals (nurses, doctors, specialists, paramedics, and first responders) with the essential theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed to effectively recognise, assess, and manage critically ill patients and lead cardiac arrest situations until advanced support arrives. RA's ALS2 courseis a mixed-mode blended learning course comprising mandatory pre-course eLearning as well as attendance at the face-to-face training day. Assessment is formative.It complies with Australian and New Zealand Committee on Resuscitation (ANZCOR) Guidelines and National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards and is informed by European Resuscitation Council (ERC) Guidelines on Education for Resuscitation 2025, including using online learning modalities to provide flexibility in time and location for learners and to promote asynchronous learning. In 2016, approximately 200,000 Australian adults reported being sexually assaulted in the 12 month period. Of the approximate fifty percent of women who sought advice or support following sexual assault, four in ten did so from a general practitioner (GP) or other health care provider.GPs are well placed to identify, support, treat and refer victims of sexual violence. This unit will provide practitioners with an understanding of how to recognise, respond to and refer patients who are victims of sexual violence, including disclosures of sexual violence; ethical, medical and forensic considerations; and immediate and long-term referrals to assist in recovery. Core to this content is an exploration of key communication skills, trauma-informed and patient-centred responses. This unit references the World Health Organizations LIVES Framework for responding to and caring for individuals subject to sexual violence. This unit is focused on the patient consultation. ETM is 3-day medical short course (similar to APLS, EMST) that covers the reception and resuscitation of adult major trauma patients. The course involves short, focused lectures, hands on practical skill training, small group interactive sessions and simulation/scenarios. There is an interactive, case based "ask the expert" session with a local trauma expert, which varies from course to course.Assessment is summative in the form of a pre and post course MCQ, and two OSCE style skill stations, as well as formative, with debriefing and feedback given after each scenario, and during the small group interactive sessions and procedure workshops.Participants in the ANZCA and FPM CPD program may claim ETM Course as a Major Haemorrhage Emergency Response Activity in their CPD portfolio.
