Genetic testing is increasingly part of routine reproductive care, yet many GPs feel unsure about when and how to offer RGCS and NIPT/S, interpret results, and guide patients. This webinar equips GPs with practical, evidence-based strategies to integrate genetic screening into everyday practice. Participants will learn when testing is indicated, how to discuss options and limitations with patients, and manage follow-up, while exploring ethical considerations and communication tips—helping them provide confident, patient-centered care during preconception and pregnancy.

This module addresses the need for GPs to confidently recognise, investigate, and manage genetic conditions in paediatrics and pregnancy. It provides practical guidance on identifying red flags in family and patient histories, initiating appropriate genetic testing in primary care, navigating referral pathways, and effectively communicating results to families, including implications for other family members and reproductive planning. By enhancing these skills, GPs can support early diagnosis, informed decision-making, and coordinated care in the general practice setting.

This activity is only available to GPs employed/contracted with a HealthPathways teamHealthPathways is an online manual used by clinicians to help make assessment, management, and specialist request decisions for over 550 conditions.Rather than being traditional guidelines, each pathway is an agreement between primary and specialist services on how patients with particular conditions will be managed in the local context. Each health jurisdiction tailors the content of HealthPathways to reflect local arrangements and opinion, and deploys their own instance of HealthPathways to their clinical community. The target audience for HealthPathways is the primary care clinicians responsible for managing patients in the community, and for initiating requests (including referrals to hospital) for specialist assistance. This Training Program successfully onboards new clinical editors employed by an established HealthPathways team, Streamliners, provides formal learning in three training phases:Phase 1 - Introductory e-Learning course. Phase 2 - Remote one-to-one tools training with an accredited trainer from the Streamliners training team.Phase 3 - Remote small-group training on pathway development with other GP clinical editors, led by a GP clinical advisor.

Allergic diseases are a growing health challenge in Australia, affecting about 20% of the population. Conditions like allergic rhinitis and asthma are prevalent, with food allergies also a concern, especially among children. Serum allergen-specific IgE testing (RAST) is a crucial tool for GPs in diagnosing allergies, helping them identify specific allergens for targeted advice on management. However, GPs need to understand the test's limitations and integrate its results into a broader clinical context for optimal patient care.
