This learning module consists of approximately 2 hours of online active learning and self-assessment focused on how general practitioners (GPs) and PNs and other primary care providers can operate under the Victorian Government's information sharing schemes for providers in contact with people experiencing or using family violence. This includes the Family Violence Information Sharing Scheme (FVISS) and the Child Information Sharing Scheme (CISS) which are underpinned by the Multi Agency Risk assessment and Management Framework (MARAM). We outline what the Information Sharing Schemes and MARAM aim to achieve and how you can use them to work across the services system to consistently and sensitively identify and respond to family violence and manage risk. This includes what to do when a patient discloses to enable a best practice response and referral. Incorporating examples of real case studies and role plays, and reflective questions, we have aimed to make this course as interactive as possible. andlt;grammarly-desktop-integration data-grammarly-shadow-root="true"andgt;andlt;/grammarly-desktop-integrationandgt;

The aim of this training is to provide participants with knowledge and skills related to the use of Focused Psychological Strategies (FPS) in practice. The training provides an update on mental health problems in Australia (epidemiology), comprehensive mental health assessment and treatment planning, and use of the relevant Medicare item numbers (including FPS items). Participants are then guided through the background and applied theory of a very practical and evidence-based approach, namely Interpersonal Therapy (IPT). There is a strong focus on skills development related to IPT which includes interpersonal inventories, timelines, genograms, communication analysis, communication skills training, grief counselling and strategies to cope with change and transitions. Their application in practice will be covered so that participants go away with good understanding of the IPT framework and specific strategies to apply in practice.

Trauma can have far-reaching effects. The care of people who have experienced trauma and who suffer from Acute Stress Disorder, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), related anxiety, depression or substance-use issues, or complex PTSD is vital within primary healthcare. There is evidence-based research literature which supports the various psychological treatments for trauma, and highlights the need for up-skilling and education on the comprehensive treatment of trauma and related conditions.There are a group of GPs who have undertaken post-graduate training in Focussed Psychological Strategies (FPS) and require FPS-CPD. Given that at any point in time 4.4% of Australians have PTSD, that is over a million people, and more are significantly impacted by trauma (Phoenix Australia, 2020), it is vital that FPS Skills trained GPs are provided with an opportunity to learn more about assessing and comprehensively managing trauma, including up-skilling on CBT as applied to trauma. The aim of this training on the comprehensive treatment of adults impacted by TRAUMA is to provide GPs with evidence-based information about the psychological treatments of trauma-related problems and disorders, and to provide skills training related to Cognitive Behaviour Therapy as applied to trauma.
