The aim of this education course is to equip GPs with the skills and knowledge to offer the option of HPV self-collection to their patients as part of the National Cervical Screening Program. On completion, GPs will be able to identify situations when self-collection can and cannot be used, appropriately manage results according to clinical guidelines, and support patients throughout the screening pathway. The course covers the progression of cervical disease and its relation to HPV infection, the current national policy and clinical guidelines on cervical screening and self-collection, as well as strategies to address barriers and promote enablers to cervical screening with a particular focus on vulnerable groups who are more likely to be under or never screened.

This course provides education on each of the national screening programs, the barriers and enablers to screening, how to promote screening within general practice, and strategies that focus on underscreened populations and their cultural safety. The aim is to equip healthcare practitioners and nurses with the skills to effectively promote and encourage participation and thereby reduce morbidity and mortality across bowel, breast, and cervical cancer.

Iron deficiency and iron deficiency anaemia are more difficult to diagnose when they are masked by chronic inflammatory disorders. Iron deficiency anaemia frequently co-exists with anaemia of chronic disease or inflammation.This case study follows a 72-year-old man with iron deficiency anaemia in the setting of complex comorbidities. The aim of this case study is to highlight the importance of considering all the patient’s comorbidities, and communication between the treating clinicians.
