This education discusses the prevalence of antimicrobial resistance and inappropriate antimicrobial use in Australian residential aged care facilities. It highlights the adverse effects and drug interactions associated with antibiotic use in older people as well as providing guidelines for managing patients with a documented history of antibiotic hypersensitivity. The aim is to ensure GPs can use a systematic approach to improve the appropriate use of antimicrobials in RACFs thus reducing the level and spread of antimicrobial-resistant organisms in this setting.

Adrenalin autoinjectors are indicated for the emergency treatment of anaphylaxis (acute severe allergic reactions) due to food allergies, insect stings, drugs or other allergens. Data suggest that only andlt;60% of patients at risk of anaphylaxis carrying an adrenaline autoinjector. In Europe and North America there are up to four different devices which can be prescribed to patients. Anapen® is new to Australia but not new globally. As a result, there is a need to ensure that appropriate and well-rounded education for GPs is available. The major focus of this education is to increase GPs’ knowledge and confidence in available adrenaline autoinjectors, particularly with regards to the dose of adrenaline in Anapen 500 being consistent with the intramuscular injection (IMI) dose recommendations for people who weigh more than 50kg.

This infant and early childhood mental health assessment and management eLearning course focuses on the identification, assessment, care planning and support required for children aged 0-5 at risk of or experiencing mental health difficulties. The course is built around a General Practice Framework of:- knowledge of common child mental health conditions- engagement skills required when interacting with a child and their family- practical skills for child mental health assessment and managementThis is a self-paced online course, of 6 hours duration. Content is delivered using written, visual, audio, and video media, starting at a foundational level then building on knowledge via reinforcement and introduction of new concepts at each Module. The course design, delivery and assessment has been co-designed with GPs and parents. Children's voice has been integrated throughout the course. Key skills covered in this course include- Active Listening- Safety netting- Prioritising.- Clinical interviewing of a child and parent- Biopsychosocial formulation.- Referral as part of Better Access pathway- developing a mental health treatment plan- Psychoeducation.
