Recognising and managing suicidal risk is one of the most challenging aspects of primary care.The Advanced Training in Suicide Prevention workshop aims to increase general practitioners’ skills and confidence in taking a detailed suicide history and developing a collaborative management plan to increase the safety of people planning suicide.The program provides practical tools for general practitioners managing the full spectrum of suicide risk presentations including the acute suicidal crisis, care after a suicide attempt and assisting families experiencing suicide bereavement.

Perinatal in Practice: This workshop aims to introduce health professionals to the current understanding of perinatal mood disorders and its management, using lecture, case studies and interactive exercises. The workshop will cover: • the psychosocial stressors that commonly affect parents in the perinatal period • screening women for perinatal mood disorders using a screening tool and clinical interview • Diagnosing perinatal mood disorders as distinct from commonly experienced adjustment difficulties • Assessing the risk of untreated perinatal depression for the mother-baby dyad • medications for pregnant and breastfeeding women when pharmacological treatment is indicated • Developing a comprehensive management plan using a MHTP for women with perinatal mood disorders
