There is a growing gap in training for complex operative deliveries including instrumental births, breech, twins, and fully dilated caesareans in Singapore and Australia. Declining case volumes, litigation concerns, and limited structured training, particularly at NUHS and across Western Australia, have reduced exposure to these essential skills. With only 5% of births in Singapore and 10–16% in Australia involving operative vaginal delivery, clinicians risk being underprepared for high-risk scenarios. Targeted training strengthens clinical confidence, reduces complications such as emergency caesareans and NICU admissions, and delivers long-term cost savings to healthcare systems. The Art of Birthing workshopis a hands-on program led by the Women andamp; Infants Research Foundation (WIRF), focused on rural and regional WA. It equips obstetric trainees and clinicians with evidence-based skills through simulation, multidisciplinary collaboration, and integration of current research. Participants build readiness for high-risk births, improve patient outcomes, and prepare for RANZCOG assessments, while supporting workforce development and WIRF’s mission to advance maternal and neonatal health across Australia.
