This course introduces trichology as a paramedical science of hair and scalp health, bridging dermatology, endocrinology, nutrition, psychology, and cosmetic science. Participants will learn the trichologist’s scope of practice, including scalp analysis, hair loss evaluation, management of common scalp disorders, and guidance on hair care, nutrition, and lifestyle. The course highlights key consultation techniques such astrichoscopy, hair pull and wash tests, andtrichogramanalysis. Emphasis is placed on non-medical treatment advice, patient education, and the psychosocial aspects of hair concerns. Learners will also explore effective doctor–trichologist collaboration, cultural competency in Afro-textured hair care, and the importance of personalised hair care advice. By the end, participants will understand trichology’s clinical relevance, recognise hair and scalp concerns beyond dermatologic disease, and apply multidisciplinary, patient-centred approaches to improve care and communication.

In 2016, approximately 200,000 Australian adults reported being sexually assaulted in the 12 month period. Of the approximate fifty percent of women who sought advice or support following sexual assault, four in ten did so from a general practitioner (GP) or other health care provider.GPs are well placed to identify, support, treat and refer victims of sexual violence. This unit will provide practitioners with an understanding of how to recognise, respond to and refer patients who are victims of sexual violence, including disclosures of sexual violence; ethical, medical and forensic considerations; and immediate and long-term referrals to assist in recovery. Core to this content is an exploration of key communication skills, trauma-informed and patient-centred responses. This unit references the World Health Organizations LIVES Framework for responding to and caring for individuals subject to sexual violence. This unit is focused on the patient consultation. GPs need to be innovative and informed by evidence. Healthed Digital Activities (podcasts, articles, videos) provide evidence-based, high quality educational content with input from GPs, specialists, researchers, medical educators, industry, educational institutions, and other sources. These activities are developed by a medical faculty based on GP survey data and questions, delivered by GPs and specialists on a wide range of topics, which allows the GPs to learn a diverse range of professional knowledge and skills, apply them to their clinical practice. The educational content within these activities assists GPs to diagnose and manage the full range of health conditions across the lifespan.
