This course focuses on biopsies, haemostasis and halo grafting relating to skin cancer medicine. Participants will learn about monopolar and bipolar modes of cautery, including pros and cons of each mode. Electrical and fire risks of cautery are mentioned. The unit concludes with haemostasis options for punch and shave biopsy. Procedures and sizes of punch biopsies are given in addition to the use of marini sutures for biopsy closure if required. The second unit looks at shave biopsies and shave excisions. Attention is paid to using shave excisions for excising melanoma. The technique explains the advantages and limitations of halo grafting, and lists the three skin graft phases - plasmatic imbibition, Inosculation and neovascularization. Clinical diagrams, mathematical equations and recordings are provided. The final section of this unit outlines suitable dressings and dressing changes. Recordings of procedures on pigskin and in the clinical setting are provided.

This course focuses on skin cancer surgery relating to lip wedges. This course begins with a revision of the lip anatomy, blood, nerve and muscle supplies, as understanding these are essential when planning lip wedges. Fundamental principles of lip wedge excision are explained including how to prevent microstomia. Information on the Abbe lip switch, the Estlander flap and Gillies/Karapandzic flaps are explained. Schematic diagrams and clinical images are provided to demonstrate best practice planning techniques. Recordings in both the clinical setting and on pork parts are included.

MSF Component 1: Colleague FeedbackColleague Feedback is the first component of CFEP Surveys’ Multi-Source Feedback (MSF) program, providing structured insights from peers and colleagues on a doctor’s professional practice. Using a validated, evidence-based questionnaire, colleagues assess observable behaviours across domains such as communication, collaboration, professionalism, and clinical competence. The aggregated results are compiled into a comprehensive, de-identified report benchmarked against national data. This process enables practitioners to recognise their key strengths, identify areas for improvement, and reflect on their professional performance within a supportive peer-review framework.Following receipt of their report, participants complete a Self-Reflective Exercise and Action Plan to consolidate learning and establish targeted development goals. An optional facilitated debrief with a CFEP coach is also available to further enhance understanding and application of feedback.Participation in the Colleague Feedback component supports Reviewing Performance within the ACRRM CPD framework, encouraging continuous reflection and lifelong professional development.

This course focuses on skin cancer surgery relating to periorbital defects. Participants will learn the planning behind how to remove lesions on the eyelids. Planning procedures in this sensitive area requires a considered approach. The subunits and eye anatomy are explained in addition to listing the essential principles and practical tips for lower eyelid surgery. Comprehensive information for planning ellipses or flaps is included. The course then looks at when to use either the full thickness and split skin grafts and graft planning techniques including information on the donor and recipient sites. Recordings in the clinical setting are included.

This course focuses on curettage and cautery relating to skin cancer medicine. Participants will learn about the comparison of thermal injury with liquid nitrogen to mechanical and thermal injury with electrical desiccation. A table of (pre-)malignant conditions, the freeze time, freeze-thaw cycle and halo diameter are included. The process of cryotherapy (cryosurgery) is explained including the appropriate use of cryosurgery including which lesions and locations. The use of a cryogun is described and illustrated by several videos. The second part of this course focusses on when to use curettage and cautery and appropriate anatomical locations for curettage, divided into three zones of recurrence - high, middle and low risk. The process of curettage and cautery is listed and supported by videos and images. Tips for diagnosis of small basal cell carcinomas including a patient case of a small BCC on the nose finalize this course.

This course focuses on ellipse planning relating to skin cancer medicine. Participants will learn about the three priorities in skin cancer surgery: cut the cancer out, close the resulting defect including the limitations of the ellipse, and minimising scar lines. The unit reviews the design of the ellipse and applies the ellipse around different anatomical locations with consideration to skin tension lines. Different techniques are demonstrated to determine the best direction to design an ellipse. Diagrams are included of skin tension lines on the face, limbs and chest. Images and videos illustrate the learning in this unit. The second unit focusses on ellipse planning on various areas of the face and hands. Curving ellipses may be used when following skin tension lines. Clinical recordings and images are provided. ‘Tiger country’ is reinforced at the conclusion of this course.

This course focuses on the big three – BCC, SCC and melanoma relating to skin cancer medicine. Participants will learn about the clinical and dermoscopic features of BCCs, biopsy options, pathology and treatment approaches. The course then moves to solar keratosis and examines the use of topical non-surgical treatments. Unit two continues with field-directed treatment methods including photodynamic therapy, and lists the pros and cons of available treatments. Two patient cases are included. Unit three covers SCC lesions and outlines the clinical and dermoscopic features, biopsy options, pathology and treatment approaches. Clinical cases including images are provided for various SCCs. Unit four focusses on melanomas and sentinel lymph nodes and again outlines the clinical and dermoscopic features, biopsy options, pathology and treatment approaches. Clinical cases are provided for various melanomas.

This course focuses on case management relating to skin cancer medicine. The course builds on skin cancer medicine knowledge and relates this information to clinical case studies. Cases includes planning surgical procedures, suturing techniques (simple interrupted, dermal, mattress, mirini, pulley and continuous), and suturing on "paper-thin" skin. Curettage and cautery, elliptical excisions, biopsies, lower leg grafts are also applied to these cases. Determining when to refer to others is included. Presented as three units, clinical case management of various cancers on different anatomical areas are featured throughout this course.

This course focuses on the tips and tricks relating to skin cancer surgery. where possible, skin cancer surgery procedures should remain in the same or adjacent subunits to maximise the best cosmetic healing. The course stresses the importance of patient history and how some patient conditions may impact skin cancer surgery outcomes. How to set the ambience to relax both the doctor and patient and the importance of keeping comprehensive patient records are included. Local anaesthetic, syringes/needle size and scar care and type of sutures for different wounds are mentioned. Planning skin cancer surgery on dual lesions, rhomboid, flaps and grafts are also summarised. Anticoagulation issues and points of skin cancer surgery wisdom are listed. Options for suture techniques on the chest, upper and lower limbs, and the abdomen are demonstrated. Mesh dressings for wound protection including the pros and cons are detailed. Procedural options on the face are also discussed.
