Heart failure (HF) affects over 511,000 Australians, with numbers expected to rise to 750,000, placing increasing pressure on the healthcare system. General practitioners (GPs) are essential to improving HF outcomes through early diagnosis, initiation, and titration of guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT). Despite proven treatments, many patients do not receive appropriate GDMT or reach target doses, leading to preventable hospitalisations and higher mortality. This clinical audit is highly relevant to GPs, aiming to close gaps between evidence-based guidelines and clinical practice. It supports GPs in recognising and addressing barriers such as knowledge gaps, clinical inertia, and patient-related challenges. By participating, GPs will strengthen their confidence in applying GDMT, improve patient outcomes, and contribute to reducing the burden of HF on the healthcare system.

Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer globally, with keratinocyte cancers being most common. Actinic keratoses (AKs) are precancerous lesions and are present in 40% to 60% of Caucasians aged over 40 years old in Australia. Actinic keratoses are clinically significant not only because they may progress to squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) but also because the presence of multiple AKs indicates significant UV exposure and areas of field cancerisation. As most skin cancer is preventable, GPs have a crucial role in educating patients about sun-smart behaviours, as well as treating precancerous lesions. This is an online interactive CPD activity. The primary aim of this CPD activity is to advance the assessment and management of AKs with a focus on when GPs need to treat the field, to eliminate both visible and subclinical lesions to minimise the risk of progression to SCC.

This 60-minute webinar is highly relevant to GPs who routinely initiate, monitor, and review anticoagulation therapy for patients with atrial fibrillation. Through interactive case discussions and practical tips, it equips participants to assess stroke and bleeding risk, tailor DOAC therapy to individual patient needs, and manage complex scenarios such as renal decline, frailty, and cognitive impairment. GPs will gain confidence in using validated risk tools, navigating periprocedural management, deprescribing when appropriate, and engaging patients in shared decision-making—ensuring safer, evidence-based care in the general practice setting.
