This case-based webinar is designed to support GPs in the safe and effective use of DOACs for stroke prevention in patients with atrial fibrillation. It will build on previous case studies and introduce new scenarios to guide patient-centred discussions when considering a DOAC, including how to adjust dosing in the presence of comorbidities. The session will help GPs identify and manage stroke and bleeding risks, and outline strategies to reduce bleeding in collaboration with patients. It will also emphasise the importance of planned follow-up and regular review to ensure treatment benefit and continued patient engagement.

This course provides a basic understanding of medical cannabis, equipping healthcare professionals with specialised knowledge for optimising patient outcomes. The course equips doctors with the knowledge and skills to confidently advise patients on medicinal cannabis use. It explores the science behind cannabis, its therapeutic applications in Australia, and safe dispensing practices. Medical practitioners will gain expertise in the endocannabinoid system, dosing, and administration of cannabis medicines, and become educated about the potential risks associated with the application of medicinal cannabis,to ensure provision of optimal patient care.This course covers the knowledge base required to treat patients safely and effectively with cannabis medicines. The modules have been created by internationally recognized and respected cannabis clinicians, respected cannabis medicine specialists with active clinical practices. Each section provides a theoretical basis for disease and treatment, supported by clear clinical case examples and quantitative dose advice. Areas of study include the history of cannabis, pathophysiology, pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic theory, social context, routes of administration, side effects, safety precautions, potential drug interactions and the treatmentof the most commonly encountered clinical conditions.
