This program equips GPs with the knowledge and tools to enhance early detection and management of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in primary care. Participants will complete pre-reading and attend a live presentation (via webinar or face-to-face) on Kidney Health Australia’s (KHA) 5th Edition CKD Guidelines (July 2024). They will also conduct a baseline audit to identify patients with CKD risk factors—such as type 2 diabetes, hypertension, ASCVD, obesity, and heart failure—who have not had recent uACR and eGFR testing. Led by expert nephrologists, the interactive sessions will provide practical guidance on risk stratification, screening, early diagnosis, and evidence-based management. Case-based discussions will reinforce clinical decision-making and highlight the latest therapeutic advancements.Following the session, GPs will complete a structured self-reflection exercise, evaluating how their current practices align with best-practice recommendations, identifying gaps, and outlining actionable improvements. To drive real-world change, each GP will then review a minimum of 45 patients from their baseline audit who are at risk of CKD and proactively order uACR and eGFR tests to assess kidney function. This structured approach ensures meaningful learning, supports guideline implementation, and fosters measurable improvements in CKD detection and management.

Atrial Fibrillation (AF) is a common yet often underdiagnosed condition in General Practice, significantly increasing the risk of stroke and other complications if not identified and managed appropriately. This interactive webinar provides GPs with practical, evidence-based strategies to enhance early detection, confirm diagnosis, and implement best-practice management approaches. Through expert-led discussions and real-world patient case studies, participants will gain confidence in stroke risk assessment, anticoagulation therapy (including DOACs), and the selection of rate vs rhythm control strategies. The session also highlights the importance of addressing modifiable risk factors through a patient-centred approach, equipping GPs with the knowledge and skills to optimise long-term patient outcomes.

Infertility affects approximately 1 in 20 Australian males, yet misconceptions and stigma continue to cloud awareness and access to care. In an effort to bridge these gaps, the first Australian evidence-based guidelines on male infertility have been released, providing a framework for best-practice diagnosis and management in the Australian healthcare system. Partnering with Healthy Male, in this webinar we will bring together leading experts in male reproductive health, including the new guideline authors. The panel will provide practical insights into the latest evidence-based approaches to diagnosing and managing male infertility and guide GPs in navigating patient care pathways.

This activity is highly relevant for GPs, as it directly addresses the critical gap in the appropriate use of oral anticoagulants for stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation (AF)—a common and high-impact condition in general practice. With AF contributing to nearly 10% of all deaths in Australia and its prevalence rising, GPs play a pivotal role in reducing AF-related stroke risk through evidence-based anticoagulation management. Despite strong clinical guidelines, many high-risk patients remain undertreated due to concerns over bleeding risk and suboptimal prescribing practices. This activity equips GPs with practical, audit-driven insights to optimise anticoagulant use, ensuring their decisions align with best-practice recommendations. Through engagement with real-world data and interactive education, GPs will enhance their ability to balance stroke prevention with bleeding risks, ultimately improving patient outcomes and reducing the public health burden of AF-related strokes.
