This course aims to provide general practitioners with the skills, knowledge and behaviours required to thoroughly diagnose, treat and manage skin and systemic diseases which may manifest in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patient groups.It is delivered in a self-paced online learning mode.Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are afflicted by the same skin diseases and systemic diseases which manifest in the skin as the wider Australian population. However, some diseases are more common amongst Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, for example some infectious diseases. Other conditions occur more rarely amongst Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, for example, melanoma and porphyria cutanea tarda.

This course aims to provide general practitioners with the skills and knowledge to determine the basic structure and function of the skin is essential to the development of an understanding of the pathophysiology of skin disease. It is delivered in a self-paced online learning mode. Up to 10 % of consultations with general practitioners involve dermatological disease. This course is designed to provide an opportunity for the participants (GP’s) to understand thoroughly the impact of skin diseases on a patient’s physical and psychological well-being. As many of the conditions are of a chronic nature, it is essential as a GP to understand and develop appropriate and effective treatment approaches and to recognise when referral to a specialist is appropriate.

This course aims to provide general practitioners with the skills and knowledge to thoroughly diagnose, treat and manage patients with Connective Tissue disease.It is delivered in a self-paced online learning mode.Connective tissue diseases have their roots in abnormalities of the support structures (collagen) of the body and they often involve a vascular component. The course covered in some detail some of the more commonly encountered connective tissue disease including scleroderma, lupus and dermatomyositis.
