Several vacancies are available on a full time and part time basis for 5 years in Katherine. Selection will be made at the RMP, RG or SRG level depending on the experience/qualifications of the successful applicant.

Total annual full-time remuneration package: $380, 895 - $466, 444
(+ shift penalty rates & on-call allowance as per EBA)
Includes 6 weeks leave per annum, professional development leave and relocation assistance *comprised of base salary (RG1-SRG3): $207, 165 - $262, 168

Professional development allowance: $21,603 - $28,806,
Regional/remote attraction allowance: $28,806
Retention Allowance after 12 months service: $36,007
Practitioner Allowance (30% of base salary):$60,339 - $76,360

We’re thrilled to introduce the ground-breaking Single Employer Model (SEM), a pioneering initiative designed to revolutionize GP services in our region.  The SEM is a trailblazing approach that brings together GPs under a single employer, NT Health.

As an SEM GP, you’ll have the chance to work across various healthcare settings, from Hospital to remote primary care, mainstream General Practice and Aboriginal health services.  The SEM provides you with one contract to work across multiple settings, ensuring consistent access to accrued benefits and allowances.

This  position  has  an  attractive  remuneration package, including  base  salary  with  on  call and overtime  allowances,  rural/remote  living and retention  allowances,  professional development allowance,  and  superannuation. There  is allowance for  6+  weeks  annual leave  per  year, as  well  as  study/professional development leave. You may be eligible for the Rural Procedural Grants  Program  or the Workforce Incentive  Program.  There are also Medicare incentive benefits for those working in ED or community GP.  Assistance with relocation expenses and accommodation on arrival is provided.  FIFO arrangements can be negotiated.

Katherine Hospital (KH) provides essential medical services to an expansive region comparable in size to Victoria. KH is a rural hospital with 40 beds distributed across three wards— medical, paediatric/post-op, and obstetrics and gynaecology (O&G) wards as well as a medical day stay unit. The hospital boasts a dedicated team of Rural Generalists and maintains robust collaborative ties with various departments at our tertiary referral center, the Royal Darwin Hospital (RDH). For those interested in non-clinical aspects, there are opportunities for involvement in teaching medical students and junior doctors as well as the chance to contribute to specialized portfolios within the department.

For those wishing to work in the Emergency Department, there is varied and diverse medicine with approximately 16,000 presentations per year and a mix of adult and paediatric patients. The ED has a close relationship with Careflight retrieval service, and a developed teaching program for junior doctors. Senior Doctor colleagues in ED are a mix of FACEM and Rural Generalists.

For those wishing to work in remote General Practice, Katherine Hospital provides GP services to both Pine Creek and Numbulwar remote clinics, with outreach GP trips available to these clinics.

Located on the main street of Katherine, Katherine Family Medical Practice (KFMP) is a new and modern clinic catering to all aspects of GP care, including general health assessments, care plans and EPC referrals, mental health care plans, women's, mens and childrens health, diabetes support, workers compensation and travel vaccinations.

KMFP is a positive, enthusiastic and successful medical practice, striving to deliver excellence in health, continuing quality improvement and best practice medicine and clinical care. Our vision is to offer access to excellent health care in the Katherine region, by caring for the safety, health and well being of our patients, demonstrating compassion and understanding for their situations and providing comprehensive  consultation.

Our team consists of helpful administrative staff, Practice Manager and Nurse Practitioner. Pathology is located onsite.

What are we looking for?
You will need:
·       Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine or the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
·       Advanced specialised training or extended skills training in areas including anaesthetics, obstetrics, emergency medicine, mental health or similar.
·       An interest in rural and remote health.
