The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS)
plays a crucial role in delivering comprehensive general practice services
across diverse and often remote locations including rural towns, remote
stations, mine sites, and islands. Currently, we have Primary Health Care
(PHC) positions available in Cairns with options for both part-time and
full-time roles with flexible rostering options available. Who are we
looking for? - Registration with the Australian
Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Medical
Practitioner.
- Fellowship of the Royal Australian
College of General Practitioners (RACGP) or the Australian College of Rural
and Remote Medicine (ACRRM).
- Minimum of 5 years of post-graduate
experience in primary care.
- Ability to meet Medical Officer –
PHC credentialing requirements.
- Previous experience in rural and
remote health delivery and emergency medicine is highly
desirable.
As a
skilled Medical Officer with RFDS, your responsibilities will
include: - Clinical service delivery
encompassing comprehensive patient care from history taking to diagnostics and
specialist referrals.
- Management of acute or emergent
cases pending the arrival of retrieval services.
- Conducting telehealth consultations
using various technologies such as telephone, videoconference, and
email.
- Advice to nurses and other health
professionals as required
- Quality improvement activities
(clinical audits and case reviews)
- Respectful understanding of cultural
diversity including traditional Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander views of
health

Please be aware that your application

suitability based on your experience and qualifications for the role. Successful candidates may be subject to
a pre-employment medical assessment and will be required to undertake drug and
alcohol testing. Candidates are required to hold a current, unrestricted
Australian driver's licence and obtain an ASIC Card. You will also be required
to successfully complete the RFDS credentialing process. Prior to appointment
you will be required to provide certified copies of qualifications/registrations
