Medical Mission Call: Ukraine 2025
Led by Dr. Lara
Wieland & Only Passing Thru (www.passingthrough.net) and the Christian Medical Association of
Ukraine.
Mission
Overview
We are seeking dedicated,
compassionate healthcare professionals to join a medical mission to Ukraine in
April or May 2025. This mission is organised through Only Passing Thru in
partnership with the Christian Medical Association of Ukraine, working to
provide essential medical care to villages recovering from occupation and build
the resilience of the healthcare system during war. https://www.cmaukraine.com/projects/mobile-care (not for this particular trip but we are
also keen to hear from surgical and specialist teams who are interested in
travelling to Ukraine for operating and skills transfer sessions in the larger
centres – see contact details below)
Who
We're Looking For
- Primary Healthcare Professionals:
- Family Physicians
- Primary Healthcare
Nurse Practitioners
- Preference for
those with rural medical experience e.g. rural generalists,
remote area nurses and Nurse practitioners
Key Qualities:
- Wide scope of
clinical skills
- Flexibility and
adaptability
- Humility and
teaching mindset
- Willingness to
work with and train Ukrainian healthcare workers
- Christian faith is
not a requirement but you will be working with a primarily Christian team and
with organisations who are guided by this faith.
Mission Details
Duration: April or May 2025
Location: Various locations in Ukraine (non-frontline areas)
Possible
Activities:
- Mobile clinic work in villages
- Training and knowledge sharing with Ukrainian healthcare
workers
- Community health outreach
-education sessions/workshops etc.
Safety and Risk
Considerations
- Working in a country at war
- Not operating in frontline areas but…
- Possible exposure to:
- Drone or missile
attacks
- Need to use bomb
shelters
- Basic/primitive
accommodation at times
- Basic war injury insurance available
- No standard travel insurance (due to government travel
advisories)
- All participants travel at their own risk
Accommodation and
Conditions
You should be prepared for:
- Variable accommodation standards
- Possible basic sleeping conditions (including floor mats)
- Occasional lack of running water
- Mixed with periods of comfortable city accommodation in a
beautiful city with great food.
Financial Considerations
Participants will need to cover:
- Program fee (includes accommodation, transport,
translators, logistics)
- Personal flights (can be self-booked or arranged through
us)
- Please note:
- Flight refunds
unlikely if mission cancels due to war escalation
- Partial program
fee refund available if mission cancels
