Description |
At Prescript Recruitment, we place doctors in roles that matter — to communities, to patients, and to you. Right now, we’re partnering with a well-supported rural hospital in Narrandera, NSW, seeking experienced Rural Generalists (GP VMOs) for upcoming blocks. With generous rates, modern onsite accommodation, and an after-hours program that prioritises clinician wellbeing, this is a role where you can practise at the top of your scope without burning out.
The name
Narrandera comes from the Wiradjuri word Narrungdera, meaning “place of many
lizards” — a nod to the land’s rich Indigenous heritage and connection to
country. It’s the kind of place where you’re quickly welcomed, and where your
presence as a doctor genuinely matters. The Position
You’ll be joining a dedicated rural health team, delivering GP and ED services with on-call support as part of a structured roster. Expect the autonomy typical of regional practice, the variety of rural presentations, and a culture that values collaboration and contribution. The hospital also runs an after-hours model that ensures clinicians are well-rested and supported — essential for sustainable locum work.
Curious what it's really like to locum here? We can
connect you with a Prescript doctor who regularly works in Narrandera for a
firsthand view of the role, the team, and the town. Location & Lifestyle
Narrandera is a charming town in the Riverina region of New South Wales, situated on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River. It's approximately a 5.5-hour drive from Sydney and about 1.5 hours from Wagga Wagga. For those preferring to fly, Narrandera-Leeton Airport offers regular flights to and from Sydney, making travel convenient.
The town offers a relaxed lifestyle with a strong sense of community. Doctors can enjoy outdoor activities such as walking or cycling along the river trails, visiting the Narrandera Wetlands, or exploring the nearby Lake Talbot Water Park. The area is also known for its rich Aboriginal heritage and hosts various cultural events throughout the year.
