About the
role
Mount Isa Hospital is the regional
birthing facility for low and medium risk birthing (from 32 weeks gestation).
Our region covers from the north to Mornington Island, south to Dajarra, east to
Julia Creek, and west to Lake Nash (Northern Territory). The Obstetrics
& Gynaecology unit provides a reasonable range of services including most
obstetrics and operative general gynaecology with some laparoscopic surgery and
urogynaecology. We provide a colposcopy service at the hospital and at outreach
clinics. There is extensive use of portable ultrasound by clinicians.
As a Senior Medical Officer in Obstetrics & Gynaecology
(O&G) you will have the opportunity to: - Join a motivated team providing a

Requirements - Mandatory requirements are a
relevant tertiary degree qualification and appropriate
registration/licences.
- Current general registration with
or/eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Agency
(AHPRA).
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of
Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent eligible for registration with the Medical Board
of Australia.
- Fellow of the Australian College of
Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) or Rural Australian College of General
Practitioners (FRACGP + FARGP) with Advanced Diploma of the Royal Australian
and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (Advanced
DRANZCOG).
- The position may require travel by
commercial or charter plane and/or vehicle to other Hospital/s and/or Health
Centre/s dependent on travel requirements.
- C Class Motor Vehicle
Licence.
- The position requires the incumbent
to undergo the credentialing and scope of clinical practice process in
accordance with NWHHS policy.
- Shift Work: The position may require
the incumbent to be rostered outside of ‘ordinary hours’.
- The position requires the incumbent
to fulfil clinical on-call requirements in Obstetrics and Gynaecology practice
and undertake on-call in line with their approved scope of clinical
practice.
- Pre-employment screening will be
conducted for the successful applicant, including Criminal History
checks.
- This is a VPD risk role and may
require evidence of vaccination or immunity to: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps,
Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis.
- A period of probation may
