Description About us:
Blackwater Hospital is a 16-bed facility, including four aged care beds, providing acute inpatient, emergency, pharmacy, and outpatient services. The team has moved into a modern facility, supported by visiting Allied Health services such as podiatry, speech pathology, occupational therapy, and psychiatric care, plus community health clinics in antenatal, dietetics, child health, diabetes, immunisation, and women’s health.

About the role:
The Senior Medical Officer delivers high-quality primary and secondary medical services at Blackwater, prioritising patient safety, continuous improvement, and clinician development. Flexible rosters include fly-in/fly-out or drive-in/drive-out (travel at employee cost). The role may involve clinical services across multiple CQHHS facilities, including Rockhampton, Gladstone, Emerald, Biloela, Capricorn Coast, Mount Morgan, Baralaba, Theodore, Springsure, Moura, North Rockhampton Nursing Centre, Eventide, and Rockhampton Mental Health Service.

About you:
Mandatory: MBBS or equivalent, eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia, and maintain registration.
Preferred: FACRRM, FRACGP, or significant progress in ACRRM/RACGP training.
Advanced skills in Obstetrics (DRANZCOG Advanced), Anaesthetics (JCCA), Surgery, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or Paediatrics are desirable.
Current ALS and PALS certification.
Enrolment in and maintenance of a CME/CPD program with an appropriate medical college.

Remuneration & benefits:
Total value up to $459,097 p.a., including salary ($182,106–$251,527), 12.75% super, 17.5% leave loading, professional development leave/allowances, overtime/on-call allowances, retention incentives, salary sacrificing, paid parental leave, EAP, and discounted private health insurance.

Requirements:
Maintain vaccination against Vaccine Preventable Diseases as listed in the Role Description.
