The rugged and beautiful North West

developing innovative industrial sector and is positioned with airports and sea
transport so it is very accessible to the rest of Tasmania and the Australian
mainland. Air travel from Devonport to Melbourne is less than one
hour.
Who Are We Looking
For? As a senior member of the hospital
executive and as part of the Hospitals North West clinical governance structure,
the Executive Director Medial Services (EDMS) will provide clinical leadership
focussed on the interests of the Tasmanian community through strong medical
leadership, the promotion of continuous improvement in local and state-wide
whole-of-system clinical service provision. The EDMS will do this by: • Providing specialist medical leadership to the organisation on all aspects of its operation, with a particular emphasis on strategic policy and direction for the medical workforce and the quality and safety of patient care and patient flow through effective clinical governance.
Servicing a
population of approximately 116,000, the Department of Health – North West
(DoH), has major sites located approximately 50km apart.
The medical services across the North
West region of Tasmania are based primarily at the North West Regional Hospital
(NWRH) in Burnie and at the Mersey Community Hospital (MCH) in Latrobe, close to
Devonport. The two hospitals both have very busy emergency and general
medical departments. Both Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Paediatrics are
primarily located at the NWRH with outpatient services at both sites.
Anaesthetic services are provided at both sites however the team is based at
NWRH for on call purposes. A busy general surgical service is based at the NWRH
with the MCH providing predominately day surgery cases. A rehabilitation
service is located in a purpose built ward at the MCH. There are extensive
outpatient services for a range of subspecialty services. There is also an eight
bed Intensive Care unit located at NWRH. Onsite support services in pathology,
imaging and pharmacy are extensive. The North West Cancer Centre (NWCC)
operates as a branch of the Northern Tasmania Cancer Service and it is linked
with the Holman Centre in Launceston. The NWCC provides integrated oncology
services to patients who live in North West Tasmania. Salary: Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1- Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 $216,300 - $310,389 per annum, pro rata + 12% superannuation.
Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $300,216 -$310,389 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award.
Salary range is in accordance with Medical Practitioners
Agreement 2022.
