Normanton is a small community situated on the
banks of the Norman River in the Gulf of Carpentaria. Fishing and prawning
industries are the mainstay of the area, along with tourism. The Traditional
Owners of the Normanton area are the Gkuthaarn, Kukatj, and Kurtijar peoples.
About the role
The successful applicant will be
based at Normanton Hospital as a Senior Medical Officer, contributing to the
delivery of comprehensive clinical services that make a meaningful difference
to the health and wellbeing of our patients and communities. In this vital
role, you will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to uphold
high standards of care, ensure quality clinical governance, and actively engage
in ongoing professional development.
Requirements
- Mandatory requirements are a
relevant tertiary degree qualification and appropriate
registration/licences.
- Hold current unconditional
registration or eligibility for unconditional registration as a Medical
Practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Possession of a Fellowship in General Practice
(FACCRM or FRACGP/FRACGP-RG/FARGP). A “Rural Generalist” qualification
(FACRRM, FARGP or FRACGP-RG) is highly regarded.
- Appointment as a Rural Generalist SMO
(Level 18 to Level 27) will require one or more of the following advanced skills as
specified by the Colleges: Adult Internal Medicine, Paediatrics, Emergency
Medicine, Remote Medicine, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health,
Mental Health, Palliative Care, Small Town General Practice, Population
Health, Academic Practice, with Anaesthetics or Obstetrics considered.
- C Class Motor Vehicle
Licence.
- Pre-employment screening will be
conducted for the successful applicant, including Criminal History
checks.
- This is a VPD risk role and may
require evidence of vaccination or immunity to: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps,
Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis.
- The position requires the incumbent
to be rostered outside of “ordinary hours”, typically working 10 hours shifts
on an8 on 20 off roster.
- While not mandatory an interest in
the Public and/or Indigenous Health would be well regarded.
- The position may require travel by
commercial or charter plane and/or vehicle to other Hospital/s and/or Health
Centre/s dependent on travel requirements.
