This Rural Generalist locum on Christmas
Island offers a meaningful and well-supported opportunity in one of Australia’s
most unique locations. Working from 6 February to 6 March 2026 and paid $1,800
per day, you will join a small, experienced team delivering both general
practice and emergency care to a welcoming remote community. The role suits a
doctor who enjoys variety, autonomy and the chance to make a direct, tangible
impact. Your work will include running GP
clinics, managing walk-ins, responding to trauma and acute presentations,
coordinating stabilisation and retrievals, and supporting chronic and community
health needs. The medical team operates a 1-in-3 on-call roster and is supported
by skilled nursing staff and retrieval services. To be eligible, you will need
current AHPRA registration and ALS2 (or equivalent), along with confidence
working independently across both primary care and emergency medicine. Rural or
remote experience is valued but not essential for the right
clinician. All flights, on-island transfers and
fully furnished accommodation are provided, with potential access to a travel
allowance depending on contract structure. You will be met on arrival and
supported throughout your placement by both the on-island team and Prescript.
Locums on Christmas Island rarely become available and fill quickly, making this
an exceptional opportunity for a Rural Generalist seeking a change of pace,
professional challenge and the chance to make a meaningful
difference.
