The team at
Proserpine Hospital is seeking applications for a Senior Medical Officer -
Obstetrics to join their team on a Permanent Part-Time basis (40 or 56 hrs).
Mackay
Hospital and Health Service
has 6 hospitals, 2 multi-purpose health services and 4 community health
centres that employ more than 3,700 staff. The district covers an area of
approximately 90,000km2 and provides services to patients and their families in
Bowen, Cannonvale, Clermont, Collinsville, Dysart, Glenden, Mackay,
Middlemount, Moranbah, Proserpine and Sarina.

Your opportunity
Provision, development and maintenance of effective,
efficient and suitable clinical services at the Proserpine Hospital and to
contribute to the continual upgrading of medical education and dissemination of
knowledge to staff and patients. The position will coordinate as necessary with
other personnel within the hospital, other hospital services and agencies to
ensure optimum patient care, and to ensure integration of services in the wider
community.

Mandatory
qualifications/Professional registration/Other requirements - At least 3 years’ post graduate
experience is required, with highly developed clinical skills.
- Documented experience of having
worked in a rural environment is preferable.
- Rural generalist skills are required
as this role also entails work in the hospital’s Emergency Department and
general medical wards.
- Completion of the Advanced Skill in
Obstetrics (or equivalent) and be proficient and eligible for credentialing by
the Mackay HHS credentialing committee as a Rural Generalist with Advanced
Skill in Obstetrics
- The applicant must be able to
demonstrate recent clinical practice relevant to the scope of this role,
consistent with the Medical Board of Australia's registration
standards.
