The Mackay
Base Hospital have opportunities available for a Principal House Officer or
Registrar to join their Emergency Department on a Temporary Full-Time basis
(76hrs p.f.)
Your opportunity
A Principal House Officer or
Registrar is a medical practitioner in fourth or subsequent year of practical
experience after eligibility for full registration as a medical practitioner.
This role is required to participate in the provision, development and
maintenance of an effective, efficient and equitable clinical service to
hospital clients; and contribute to the continual improvement of medical
education and dissemination of knowledge to staff and clients.
About the Team
The Emergency Department has 21 Acute
bays that include 2 Resus Bays and 4 High Dependency bays, 12 Consult bays and
a 14 bed Short Stay Unit. The Department is accredited for Specialist
Fellowship Training by ACEM, ACRRM Advanced Skills Training (AST), and RACGP
Core Generalist Training (CGT).
We are an Adult/Mixed Non-Major
Referral Base Emergency Department for Mackay Hospital & Health service,
currently Accredited as a Tier 3 Training Site for 12 Months of Training in
Emergency Medicine. We also offer foundational, intermediate and Advanced
Associateship ACEM Training programs in Emergency Medicine. There are
opportunities for Non-ED Terms in Anaesthetics, ICU and other
Departments. There are ample learning opportunities for
point-of-care ultrasound through our FACEM cohort.

Service
has 6 hospitals, 2 multi-purpose
health services and 4 community health centres that employ more than 3,700
staff. The district covers an area of approximately 90,000km2 and provides
services to patients and their families in Bowen, Cannonvale, Clermont,
Collinsville, Dysart, Glenden, Mackay, Middlemount, Moranbah, Proserpine and
Sarina.
