Description

In this position you will have excellent exposure to a diversity of emergency presentations and procedures whilst working within a supportive medium-sized mixed adult and paediatric department consisting of FACEMs, highly experienced rural hospitalists as well as junior medical officers seconded from metropolitan hospitals. To be successful you will need to hold AHPRA registration and be able to demonstrate a minimum of six months experience in Emergency Medicine at registrar level. Time contribution from Intensive Care Medicine, Anaesthetics or Acute Medicine will be considered. This role will be both challenging and rewarding and you will develop valuable skills that only come from working in a rural ED.

This position is accredited with:

  • ACRRM (AST in Emergency Medicine)
  • RACGP (Core EMT & Extended Skills in EM)
  • CICM for ED time component

Northam is an attractive rural town located 100km from the Perth CBD in the picturesque Avon Valley. Northam Health Service is the main hub hospital in the Wheatbelt region which is home to approximately 70 000 people and close-knit-farming communities. In addition to the ED, Northam Hospital has a 38-bed inpatient unit, a rehabilitation unit, hospice, a midwifery led birthing service, surgical services, onsite dialysis, an oncology unit and regular visiting specialists. The ED has approximately 16 000 attendances per annum.
