Lead
Emergency Care Across East Gippsland About the Role Bairnsdale
Regional Health Service (BRHS) is seeking an experienced Emergency Medicine
Specialist to join our senior leadership team as Director, Emergency Department.
This unique role combines departmental leadership with clinical practice,
offering the opportunity to shape emergency care across East Gippsland while
maintaining hands-on clinical work in a supportive regional service. Key
responsibilities include: - Provide
clinical, operational and strategic leadership for the Emergency
Department
- Deliver
high-quality, patient-centred emergency care as a practising clinician
- Lead
workforce planning, clinical governance, quality improvement and patient
safety initiatives
- Oversee
recruitment, credentialing input and departmental performance
- Support
education, supervision and mentoring of doctors in training and
students
- Work
collaboratively with executive, clinical teams and external
stakeholders
- Foster a
positive team culture focused on wellbeing, learning and continuous
improvement
The Emergency
Department The BRHS
Emergency Department is a dynamic regional service providing emergency and
trauma care to a large and growing East Gippsland community. As the only
Emergency Department between Sale and Bega, it plays a critical role in
delivering high-quality emergency care across a broad regional
catchment. - Approximately 22,800 presentations per year
- 9
treatment cubicles including resuscitation and fast track areas
- 5-bed
Short Stay Unit
- Staffed
by Emergency Medicine SMOs with overnight on-call support
- Strong
links with regional referral hospitals and specialist services
- Accredited for Advanced Skills Training in Emergency Medicine
(ACCRM)

About You - FACEM,
FACRRM or equivalent specialist qualification
- Specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia
(AHPRA)
- Demonstrated leadership experience in emergency medicine
- Strong
clinical governance and patient safety capability
- Commitment to education and professional development
- Interest
in rural and regional healthcare and service innovation
