WHAT ARE WE OFFERING?
The Barossa Hills Fleurieu Local Health Network (BHFLHN) is inviting talented and dedicated medical professionals to apply for our Rural Generalist Trainee positions and be a part of our exceptional healthcare team.
BHFLHN offers
accredited ACRRM and RACGP core and advanced training positions in Emergency
Medicine across our three peri-urban Emergency Departments: - Mt Barker DSM Hospital in the
Adelaide Hills – Mixed ED seeing approximately 33,000 presentations per
year
- Gawler Hospital in the Barossa Valley
– Mixed ED seeing approximately 30,000 presentations per year
- South Coast Hospital on the Fleurieu
Peninsula – Mixed ED seeing approximately 19,000 presentations per
year.
We also hold accreditation for the
Australian College of Emergency Medicine (ACEM) Associateship Training Programs
in Emergency Medicine. We provide a strong culture of
supervision, education, and support for our trainees. This includes: - Weekly paid and protected teaching
time
- Support for individual learning at
all stages of Rural Generalist Training
- Formal mentoring and
supervision
Assistance with log-book completion, simulation training, exam preparation and general skill development.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Candidates should ideally be working towards or eligible for registration with the Rural Generalist GP Training Program with either (or both) The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) or the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM)
At a minimum, applicants must hold General Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
HOW WILL YOU CONTRIBUTE?
You
will………. - Deliver safe, high-quality patient
care by conducting thorough assessments, formulating working diagnoses,
documenting accurately, seeking senior input when required, and ensuring
effective clinical handover, discharge planning and continuity of care.
- Support clinical excellence, safety
and quality by adhering to BHFLHN and SA Health policies, promoting safe
prescribing, managing deteriorating patients, participating in incident
reporting, complaints management and continuous quality improvement
activities.
- Contribute to a positive learning and
professional environment through active participation in education, training,
teaching programs, performance reviews and feedback processes, while acting as
a professional role model for junior medical staff.
- Strengthen service delivery and organisational outcomes by engaging in accreditation activities, clinical review programs, risk management, system improvement initiatives and collaborative multidisciplinary teamwork that places patients and consumers at the centre of care.
