In Katherine, you'll practise across
the entire continuum of child health care: - Review children presenting to the Emergency
Department
- Manage paediatric inpatients
- Operate outpatient and outreach clinics
- Attend high risk deliveries and contribute to newborn
care
- Provide supervision to the paediatric
- RMOs and rotating registrars
- Deliver paediatric focused education and resource
development for medical and nursing staff
- Build meaningful relationships with children, families
and communities through continuity of care
You'll work alongside a supportive team
of Rural Generalists, Emergency Physicians, General Medicine Physicians,
experienced nursing staff and allied health professionals, with specialist
paediatric support from Royal Darwin Hospital. Medicine You Won't Find Anywhere Else The Big Rivers Region
covers an area larger than Victoria and serves a population of around 22,000
people across Katherine, remote Aboriginal communities and cattle
stations. You'll gain exposure to clinical
presentations rarely encountered in metropolitan centres, while developing
expertise in rural and remote child health. The role provides an opportunity to
work closely with Aboriginal families, contribute to culturally responsive care
and make a tangible impact on health outcomes for some of Australia's most
underserved children. Integration with Primary Health Care
Under the Single
Employer Model, Katherine Hospital staff have the option to work with the three
regional ACCHO providers and the private GP practice. Medical staff also offer
