Why Thursday Island?

Thursday Island (Waiben) offers an exceptional tropical lifestyle in the heart of the Torres Strait, where stunning ocean views, year-round warm weather and a strong sense of community create a unique place to live and work. As the administrative and cultural hub of the Torres Strait, the island is rich in Torres Strait Islander heritage, with vibrant traditions, art, music and community events that celebrate the region's unique identity.

Surrounded by crystal-clear waters and picturesque islands, residents enjoy outdoor activities such as fishing, boating, island hopping, snorkelling and exploring local historical sites. Despite its remote location, Thursday Island provides excellent facilities including healthcare services, schools, shops, cafes, sporting amenities and essential government services, offering the perfect balance of professional opportunity, cultural connection and relaxed island living.

About the role:

This is an opportunity to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care while enjoying the unique lifestyle and rich culture of the Torres Strait. Working within a supportive multidisciplinary team, you will manage a diverse clinical caseload, provide evidence-based care across a range of settings and build meaningful relationships with patients, families and communities.
